It's Here!

My wheel is here and I have already spun on it. I don't have the hang of keeping it all even, but that will come.
It's very fun and I can see myself, spinning, spinning, spinning myself silly.
I plan to make a felted purse with this green and some blue, and purple.
So here is a look at my first yarn and my beautiful wheel.

The wheel is a Majacraft Rose, I chose the wheel for several reasons.

1st- is because it is fairly portable, the flyer folds down and a handle
pops up for easy carrying. I want to take it to guild meetings.
2nd- is that it is the prettiest portable in my opinion.
3rd- it has tons of accessories and options. Tons of ratio's, huge
bobbins additional flyers for different weights of yarn.
4th- one of our local guild members whom has been spinning for about 12
years and has half a does wheels says this is her all time favorite
wheel, it is so easy to use.
5th- It has a double treadle and I really wanted that.

Originally I had wanted a traditional Saxony style wheel, because they
are my idea of what a wheel should look like and I think they are
beautiful.
I first thought I was going to get the prelude for portability, but it
only had a single treadle.
When I tried it out, the single treadle was harder to keep going in the
right direction. Single treadles have a tendency to stall at the top of
the turn until you master the rhythm.
The more I hunted the internet and researched I discovered the Rose is
the wheel that gave me all the fun options and a bit of beauty to boot.
So I set out on a shopping trip where I tried several different wheels
and the Rose was everything I hoped it would be.
I am very happy with it. I didn't have one problem sitting down to
spin on it, and I have never spun before except for the one shopping day
I went on and the woman showed me how then.

Good luck in your wheel hunt, it is a hard decision to make.

Congrats on your Rose! You'll love it but you know that don't you. Somehow I thought you were getting another Majacraft model not a Rose. You chose well. Exactly what did you get with your wheel and what are the uses for those additional attachments. Mine was second hand and I missed out on some attachments like the delta . It seems to do all I need at the moment but I can't help but wonder what I'm missing. Anyway those extras are expensive!!!!

I love my Rose I just don't spin as much as I like. Also I haven't transported her yet but will soon to Rhinebeck and the local library for a presentation. Let us know if you have any transport problems. It's a bit heavy and I'm wondering if a luggage cart would work. I hear quilts for wrapping her are a good idea.

Happy spinning!

Yes I love it already!
About the extra's, I am sure you must have gotten the 2 whorls with yours. Then there is the regular flyer, and the delta flyer.
The delta flyer just allows you to make thicker, more textured fibers.
Also it is nice not to have to have to use an orifice hook.
I just ordered myself the Wild Flyer which is for extremely funky yarn or for plying. It uses the Jumbo bobbin so is also perfect for plying. I will be happy to have a larger bobbin to make bigger skeins. Spinning is most definately fun! and I am sure it is going to be very addictive.
